Whether you are a devotee of Eros, just beginning to connect with Him, or just curious about Eros, devotion is the most basic and powerful practice you can do. In most current magical paths it is common to practice devotion to the divinities according to the passage of the moons and the seasons; with Eros you can do it in the same way, depending on the area in which you live, according to the rhythms that you observe in nature and the sacred times that mark the tradition that you follow, if you follow one, although here we will only give you the dates and the basics so you can adapt it to your needs.

Monthly Devotions to Eros 2023

At the Shrine of Eros and in many branches of Hellenic reconstructionism we celebrate a special devotion to Eros every lunar month. Based on the Attic calendar that day is the fourth after the New Moon (it also coincides with devotions to Aphrodite, Hermes and Heracles). In addition, the way that the ancient Greeks had to count the days is always from sunset to sunset; that is, when the sun sets we begin to count a new day which ends at the following sunset.

Dates devotions to Eros in 2023

All the dates that we present in this list are calculated with the Athens time zone (GMT+2), for the rest of the European time zones it does not usually imply any change but in other parts of the world we recommend recalculating the fourth day after the New Moon because sometimes there is a small mismatch.

How to celebrate the devotions

The basic devotion that we propose in the Shrine of Eros is a simple ritual that you can find here and can be modified and adapted to the tradition you follow, you can also aspect Eros under the epithet that most resonates with you at the time of devotion or focus each ritual on something more specific according to the wheel of the year. If you follow any tradition in which you can include more gods, we recommend that at first you only have devotions to Eros and once you have gotten used to his energy, the way he sends you messages, you can start adding other divinities to the rituals, but if the devotion is to Eros this should be the central deity of the rite.

Remember that you can always keep an eye on the monthly devotions to Eros on the Shrine’s social networks and especially on Facebook events.
